sing to the mountain

:i miss:

:going fishing

:sleeping uncomfortably in a tent

:making campfires {for warmth and sometimes just because that's what you do when you go camping}

:being in the wilderness with family and friends and talking {really talking} without cell phones, computers or the tv to distract us

:not showering for days at a time {and not feeling bad about it}

:mountains: i could really use a good hike

i am determined to go camping {several times} before i leave for the summer.

goodbye snow : hello sunshine

i am so very {very very very} excited about the lovely weather we are going to have today {almost 50 degrees}

i think i am going to take a long stroll through the park on my way to the coffee shop before i have to sit down and grade projects...

and as soon as i finish grading, i am going to walk around town and enjoy every minute i can of the {no longer frigid} wind and the sunshine against my skin.

should be a splendorous afternoon in manhattan, ks.

when i was younger my cousins and i would have tea parties...

we would dress up and do our hair and makeup...

make yummy foods and set the table for tea time...

we would laugh and smile and pretend we were grown up...

now that i am growing up... i find myself wishing i were young again.

my happy place

ever since i was a little girl i have loved to take bubble baths...

it was a place i could be myself...

a place to get away from everything {and everyone}

i could be a mermaid..

or a fish..

i could close my eyes and be anywhere...and nowhere at the same time.

when i feel sick a hot bath always makes me feel better...

i can't imagine not having that place that i can escape...

the place i feel at peace..relaxed..

content...{not to mention a little cleaner}

today i am thankful for my bath tub - my happy place. one of them anyway.

page turning + creative yearning

of yet another book"

here i am surrounded by papers and books {and ironically listening to the books}

working on the last few assignments of semester two in graduate school...

i have been in a creative mode for the last few weeks and while i've been working on my {not so creative} papers i find myself doodling and sketching on the side...

i am getting excited for christmas break so i can channel some of that creativity. . .into something more than a few sketches...

i will try to share some of what i have been working on {hopefully soon}

well back to work i go. bye bye for now.

well it's friday {hooray} and i am one week away from being done with this semester.

i have plenty of work to do...{three writing assignments and a thesis proposal to be precise}

but right now i am cherishing today... {my} friday.

and it just so happens that i am going roller skating tonight.
